Preserving the real places and the real stories of Texas.

Thank you for supporting the Texas Historical Commission's Preservation Scholars Program

As part of it's mission, the Texas Historical Commission seeks to generate interest among college students from under-represented cultures, ethnic groups and socio-economic groups, in historic preservation.  Begun in 2007, the Preservation Scholars Program encourages students, through paid internships at the THC, to consider pursuing careers in history, architecture, archeology, downtown revitalization and heritage tourism, and to learn about and understand the impact preservation programs can have on a community’s economic development.  Your support will allow the Friends of the THC to provide stipends for undergraduate and graduate students as they work within the Texas Historical Commission on guided internships over the summer. In 2017, we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this program and look forward to continuing our efforts to build this program.
